Welcome to Motto Publishing Services. Our name is new but our team is highly experienced and extraordinarily talented.
Gretchen Otto, Senior Production Editor
Gretchen has twenty years of experience in publishing. She has personally managed over a hundred full-service titles, and has supervised the management of many more. Her experience includes textbooks and monographs in a wide variety of subjects. In 2008, Gretchen founded Motto Publishing Services with the goal of providing the highest quality book production management in the world. Raised in St. Louis, Gretchen has a B.A. in English from the University of Missouri. She was born in Wisconsin, though, and is still a cheesehead and loyal Packer backer. When she's not busy whipping projects into shape, she spends her time reading Jane Austen and practicing her Eagle Pose.
Mark Smith, Production Editor and Copyeditor
Except for a brief stint in New Mexico, Mark Smith has lived in Texas all his life. He graduated from the University of Texas with a B.A. in English, and then went to work at G&S Typesetters, starting as a proofreader in 1998 and working as a project editor from 1999 to 2002. During that time he managed dozens of projects, working with authors and hiring and supervising freelance editors. Since then he has continued editing on a freelance basis. For the last handful of years Mark has been concentrating on a career in music but is enjoying a return to the world of copyediting and managing projects. He will accept any and all challenges to play online Scrabble.
Amber Morena is our lead typesetter, but this multitalented lady also manages projects, proofreads, and is training to become a licensed massage therapist. There aren't enough of those in the publishing world.
Christine Gever is our lead proofreader. She has proofread hundreds if not thousands of books and has decades of experience. She prefers that we don't say exactly how many decades. Christine has proofread a variety of subject matter, but her specialties include classical Greek, Latin, French, math, and science. Her meticulous approach and conscientious attention to detail are incomparable, and her taste for creative improvised music and fondness for spaghetti westerns are... charming.
